Menifee, along with the communities of Sun City and Quail Valley, is part of the Menifee Valley, a growing community and economic center adjacent to the Interstate 215. Menifee is as yet unincorporated. It all began in the 1960s when a building contractor from Phoenix started developing an active retirement community called Sun City. Menifee single family homes, condos, mobile homes and retirement complexes are conveniently located near golfing, shopping, medical facilities and financial institutions. Today, Menifee is widely recognized as a community in which to own a horse property.
